How is Coronavirus transmitted?

  • By breathing droplets from an infected person in close contact (<2 m) who is sneezing or coughing.
  • By touching contaminated surfaces (door handles, table, phone,…) or an infected person (handshakes,…) and then touching your face (nose, mouth, eyes).

How does a face mask reduce the propagation of Coronavirus?

  • Healthy user
    • Minimise the inhalation of contaminated droplets released by infected people through coughs and sneezes.
    • Prevent user from touching their nose and mouth with contaminated hands.
  • Infected user
    • Prevent the spread of contaminated droplets by capturing infectious respiratory secretions of the wearer user.
    • Prevent user from touching their mouth and nose, then contaminating other surfaces.

Protecting the user against contamination May contain BFE layer. Protection
depends on how well the user
press the mask on face (nose,
chin and sides) for good sealing
otherwise leakage can occur
around the edge of the mask.
Highest protection level. Certified
filtration efficiency (BFE) with
electrostatic material to capture very fine particles.
Durable hydrophobic layer,
dense fabric and good fit
provides adequate filtration efficiency
Fabric mask with the largest filtering
surface (>250 cm2). Durable hydrophobic layer,
dense fabric and good fit
Protecting others and reducing
propagation of coronavirus
Efficacy depends on how well the
user seals the mask around face.
Recommended to change mask
when inner layer gets wet.
High risk of spreading virus
if worn by contaminated patient!
Droplets are expelled without filtering through breathing valve
High capacity to capture
droplets. Thick hydrophilic fabric
to absorb droplets from sneezing or coughing.
Outside stays dry thanks to multilayer construction
Higher capacity to capture droplets.
Larger surface area with hydrophilic fabric
to absorb droplets from sneezing or coughing.
Outside stays dry thanks to multilayer construction
Comfort and breathability Loose fitting and thin material
provide good breathability
Easier to breathe thanks to valve.
High pressure on face.
Fabric is soft.
Good breathability.
Fabric mask with the largest breathing surface (>250 cm2).
Unique construction with extra large
gap between fabric and face to offer superior
comfort and clarity of voice when talking.
High vertical extensibility adapt for many
morphologies and movement of the mouth when talking.
Number of uses Single use Single use Washable up to 10 times (less wastes) Certified 10 washes but can resist 30+ washes (less wastes)
